DIRECTV signup suspect

Given that their website provides inadequate information as to their pricing and services, I called today as I was interested in researching them as a potential alternative for lower priced cable service. My current provider's pricing has grown to be exorbitant for bundling cable TV, land-line telephone and high speed cable internet.

It was difficult to obtain answers from DirecTV 's representative as to their services as she aggressively sought first to obtain my billing information. When I insisted politely to first have her explain their services, she then stated that no specific pricing could be provided without obtaining my social security number and then completing a credit check in order to provide an actual pricing, the number of televisions that the service would cover and the price increase that would occur for the second twlve months of their mandatory 24 month contract. She insisted that she could not provide even a range of pricing though I asked for one within even 50, 100 or 200 dollars and though I explained that this policy was unreasonable given that a credit check affects one's credit rating and is not to be performed prematurely given that I have not decided to order DirecTV's services.

The representative willingly released me from the call stating that this is policy and is non-negotiable.

This is a disgrace and, to me, an indication that I would never want to enter into an agreement with any company that would treat any potential customer so stupidly.
