Paying to cancel for no confirmation - Billing practices/website erro

I recently attempted to book a flight through Orbitz. I never received the confirmation screen after trying to purchase the flight, nor did I receive a confirmation email. Since I had been having problems booking the flight and had no information that I did indeed have a ticket, I booked with another airline to ensure I had a ticket.

Then I saw Orbitz had charged my credit card. It's absurd that I should have to pay $125 airline cancellation fee plus $30 orbitz cancellation fee for something that was not my error. I've tried to call Orbitz twice but get lost in customer service.
