MegaFlix.net

Thought I was signing up for a free month of television shows not available in the US through www.tv.com. Credit card number was requested in order to confirm location (stupid on my part, I know). This was on 11/15. On 11/17 I had a credit card withdrawal for $49.95 from Megaflix.net. I hope the information I am giving will be helpful to the many others who were similarly scammed.

I called the number on my bank statement. The first time I got a recording that said to press "1" for a list of apartments for rent. Dialed again and got a prompt to cancelmy Megaflix service. Pressed "2" and was then asked for my credit card number. Not falling for that again so I pressed "0". Got an operator and told her that the charge was unauthorized. She asked for the last four digits of my account and I did give her that. She located the account and proceeded to tell me that I had agreed to a 5 day trial. Told her I agreed to no such thing and was filing a complaint with scambook along with many others and that, to date, total dollars reported amounted to a little over $8,000.00. She asked me to hold while she spoke to her manager, came back on the line, and agreed to credit my account. We will see if that really happens. I'll update this when I see the credit.
