Worst Service I Have Ever Experienced
My parents were visiting from the U.S and they wanted to go back to what my father described, as one of his best restaurant experiences in Cape Town. We did not have a reservation but the hostess/manager fit us in. This is in the middle of the week at around 3pm, the restaurant was not crazy busy. My father who is an 80 year old Indian man with Alzheimer's wanted to sit outside on the deck but the manager explained rather rudely that it was booked. Fine. He went outside to enjoy the sea breeze only to be reprimanded (like a schoolboy) that this table WAS BOOKED. Not exactly the way to treat an elderly customer. We sat for twenty minutes without any kind of attention. Even after we spoke to the same manager, our server kept breezing past us. We decided to leave as we felt uncomfortable and honestly being the only people of colour in the restaurant we were starting to feel a bit unwelcome. When we explained we were leaving the manager was very patronising and totally unapologetic. Not the service we expect from a fine dining establishment. We ended up eating downstairs at Live Bait, where we had the most amazing service and the best food. Never recommending HH to anybody again.
