In 2009 requested and received a loan modification through EMC mortgage. After a three month trial modification, which we thought was affordable, a permanent modification was given to us that was then and still is unaffordable. We accepted it because we were afraid EMC would foreclose on us if we argued with them any further. We made our payments and learned later that they did place a default on our home anyway. (Foreclosure pending) Chase took over EMC and said we had to wait one full year making these exorbenant payments before they would revisit our situation. In the meantime we went to the NACA event in Los Angeles and presented our case to them. They along with the Chase representative agreed that our situation was dire. We submitted all the required paperwork and were told that a Chase representative would contact us and work out an affordable solution. I did not hear from chase personally, only paperwork saying that they were ready to assist us. I called the assigned rep at least ten times and never received a response. Eventually contacted them. they said unable to help us because of income ratio.
