Changes in domestic baggage charges for Gold Elite members are unacceptable - baggage policy

This is a Complaint / Review about United Airlines.


Earlier today, before booking a flight on United, I called to try to find out what the "new baggage policies" mentioned on their web site are. (a thorough search of the site did not reveal any information) When I spoke to an agent, I was told that Gold Elite members, who used to be allowed three 70-pound bags checked free of charge on domestic flights, are now allowed only ONE 50-pound bag. This is completely uncompetitive (Southwest Airlines, for example, allows two free checked bags for customers who simply walk in off the street). I have been a loyal United member for many years, but this is a deal-breaker. Please change this policy, or you will lose my business and that of many other frequent flyers!
