Expedia travel nightmare

This is a Complaint / Review about

We are going on a trip to Cancun in April. Expedia has managed to ruin this trip before it has even begun, and increase the cost. First off, the travel agent, barely intelligible English, told me he could save money on our family of 4, all-inclusive vacation. He ended up booking 2 people at the hotel for half the trip, the other 2 of us for the other half of the week. His magic trick? to write in Special Request, 4 people 2 queen beds full 7 days. This mess took us an entire Sunday afternoon and 2 subsequent follow up calls to resolve, speaking to an agent and 2 managers, who also had to review the voice recording of the reservation agent. It was resolved in our favor at no additional cost, except blood, sweat and tears.

But were our problems over? No. Start of the New Year, email from Expedia to please click to confirm new flight itinerary. What? Our direct flight to Cancun disappeared!! Now we were supposed to leave on a later flight with a connection in Mexico City that arrived in Cancun at midnight no less, with 2 children!!! No thank you!!! We had to eat the entire cost to book with another airline. Expedia did not apologize and explained that it was 'normal" for flights to just disappear 3 months in advance! They offered us no compensation whatsoever, in fact they were unfriendly and lost us more money while we were talking and the airfare price increased again so now our trip is costing us $1800 more. I will never, ever use Expedia again!! They only complicated and screwed up a trip which I could have planned myself if I could have still found hotel rooms on my own where we wanted to go. Expedia had a block of them. Also, might I add, when I asked to speak to a supervisor by name whom I had previously dealt with, I was told it was impossible, because they did not have telephone extensions. No accountability at all! They are fooling no one. Poor service, poor fares, a negative 10 rating.
