Greyhound is heartless!

This is a Complaint / Review about Greyhound Bus.

My spouse and I just purchased a ticket for a friend who is in town for a funeral... She wasn't able to get hold of the person she is staying with before the departure time so she is essentially stranded and without any of her belongings. We have offered to pay whatever fee is necessary to switch the time and date on the ticket, but Greyhound flat-out refuses to help us and insists that we must pay full price for the next day bus, even though they are fully aware that we have now paid for a service that will not be used. The bus is not even sold out yet and so they are not losing any money by allowing her to switch a ticket. They are con artists! It's Christmastime, like really, have a heart. I have had a multitude of awful experiences with this bus service. I've waited several times for buses that just never showed up (when we called customer service, first we were told that if they don't stop they're not doing their job, and subsequent times it happened we were told it was due to the fact that "nobody bought a ticket", despite the fact that at the time there was no ticket terminal to purchase tickets in our town, and several people were also waiting for the bus). Every single time I have ever gone into the new terminal in my town, the people serving me are extremely rude and condescending. Also, they can never figure out how to use their computer, and often write up the tickets by hand incorrectly. Not once in my town has the bus actually showed up on time, it is often over 30 minutes late and not just in winter. I have missed things of importance due to their late buses, and have often had to wait even longer when the bus finally came because the service agents printed the ticket incorrectly and they had to fix it. It is just all around poorly arranged - I was once told that the bus stop had moved and myself with a large group of other people were forced to run back to the terminal when the bus did in fact stop at the regular stop. I will NEVER again be using their service, even though it is by far the most convenient and cost-effective way for me to make it into the city, I vote with my money and I do not choose to vote for this. Instead I will pay more and travel farther to utilize other services, and gladly, to support companies that are not a total rip-off with poor customer service and horribly late buses. Also, do not feel comforted by the fact that they "search" people entering the bus after what happened several years ago. Their "searches" are completely lame, they could not care less about customer safety. I've been allowed onto the bus with a very sharp set of large sewing shears that I forgot was in my bag, and despite searching me, they never even noticed it was there! It might as well have been a knife! Just all-around the worst company you could ever travel with!
