Priceline.com's greed out weights their concern for customer satisfaction

This is a Complaint / Review about Priceline.com.


I thought I could take Priceline.com 's reputation by their own words but learned the hard way that I couldn't. My husband and I tried to go see his family in CA back in early 2013 but had to cancel due to a death among our friends. Unable to cancel, which isn't mentioned anywhere in their advertising or on the itinerary, I had to except a credit with them. Looking to use this credit on Jan 9th, I went ahead and used all $600 of the credit to book 2 flights for my husband and I to CA to see his family again. I had to pay $360 for the change, then I had no time off for work(different problem there) due to scheduling and I knew by now that Priceline would again charge a fee to change. My husband and I decided I would just stay home and we'd use the $252 (before taxes) of my ticket to pay for the change ($230) for his. The day we tried to change it(11/21/13) we wanted to change his from the flight on 1/9/2014 to a flight on 12/27-30/2013. Priceline said we had to pay $230 to cancel mine, then an ADDITIONAL $230 to change his, no credit to use from the flight I couldn't use. Since when is it $230 cheaper to just miss a flight then it is to cancel it?
