American Business Center - Complaints / Reviews / Scam Reports
AKA American Business Center, Inc. AKA First Class Staffing American Business Center lied to unemployment

This is a Complaint / Review about American Business Center.

I worked for a client of American Business Center for under three months. The client decided that "Wasn't the right fit". Unfortunately, I didn't reach the end of the hours worked necessary for the work contract to end. I was unexpectedly unemployed with little savings to support myself.

I contacted American Business Center for a new assignment directly after the client laid me off. I called the recruiter at least twice a week for a month.
Unfortunately, I no longer had money to pay the rent, the utilities or to purchase basic groceries. I was out of work through no fault of my own and the agency failed to find me immediate employment and I was having difficulty seeking out a position on my own. Therefore, I decided to apply for unemployment.

I applied for unemployment and I thought that everything was running smoothly. After receiving my first check I find out that the American Business Center (First Class Staffing) stated in writing that I "voluntarily quit" and that "Claimant has not returned for further employment". The information they supplied was inaccurate and dishonest.

I believe that American Business Center automatically denies every temp worker's unemployment claim with the hopes that they don't have proof and they don't file an appeal. It is very wrong to deny a worker his or her rights! It is amoral to supply the unemployment agency with false and misleading information!

Fortunately, I had clear documentation to back up my claim and I received my benefits.

If you are having the same problem with American Business Center in Pittsburgh, PA, please keep track of every phone call (who you spoke with etc.), every e-mail etc. in detail. Send this information to the Unemployment office to defend your claim.

American Business Center (First Class Staffing) will lie through their teeth because they don't want to pay higher unemployment insurance. Like all private employers, temp agencies have their UI tax rate set according to whether or not their employees file valid UI claims and receive UI benefits. This is called 'experience rating' and is similar to what happens to your auto insurance premiums if you get a ticket or have an accident. Unlike other employers, temp agencies sell their services to third party employers by offering savings on the third party employers payroll costs. To offer these savings, temp agencies must keep their UI experience rated taxes low. This gives them a particular incentive to keep employees off UI benefits between temporary job assignments.

This explains why they will tell an outright fib to unemployment. They want to deny you your benefits! They don't care if you live paycheck to paycheck, have a family, and/or debt and you need money to supplement yourself through your unexpected unemployment.

After you are laid off from the client keep in touch with American Business Center on a weekly basis. If they fail to find you work you have the right to file for unemployment. It doesn't matter if you are a temp worker. You are a worker and you have civil rights! Unemployment Insurance is a Government sponsored protection to assist workers who have been laid off or even quit their jobs through no fault of their own.
