I recently ordered hair extensions for an event and paid well over $400 along with expedited shipping to get them on time. I made the payment via the PayPal system linked to their web sight. A few days after the purchase (and them charging the full amount to my account, I got an email saying they needed to "verify" my card and I needed to send a FRONT and BACK photo of my card, along with a copy of an electric bill, or any bill with my name on it. They said they CANNOT send the item until I comply. At this point I thought that parcel had already been shipped considering the site says everywhere, "dispatched in 24 hours".
Now, One would think that if a company wants to VERIFY the legitimacy of the cardholders identity and ownership of said card, they would not take the money out until it HAS been verified....
Secondly, I called PayPal because this seemed very suspicious. Both the initial lady I spoke with and the lady she redirected me to in the fraud department gave me a loud and resounding, "YES this is very fraudulent activity. Pay Pal is a verified source, thats why companies use it. No vendor should EVER ask for this information if PayPal is being used."
Needless to say I filed a complaint. So now I have to wait 10 days to see if the paypal dispute will result in a package being sent or money returned.
Unfortunately now I am out over $400 and wont have the hair in time for my event. So now I must fork out MORE money to a local store (that charge outrageous prices) JUST so that I can get the hair in time.
This has been incredibly frustrating.
