In March 2008 the pool was completed by Bouquet Construction and the Pentair equipment was installed with a 3 year warrenty. After a year, I began experiencing the Intellichlor IC40 (Cell) giving a false salt reading and causing the chroline not to produce correctly. After several calls and troubleshooting, they finally sent someone to replace the cell and was infact confirmed by the pool specialist that IC40 unit was not working properly. The new IC40 unit was installed (5 minute job) and problem was fixed.

Now working on my second cell and one year later the cell began giving me a "Check Flow" message from the Diagnostis reading. I waited a few months to see if the message would clear, but it never did, so I contaced Pentair again, in February 2011 and within my 3 year warrenty. I informed them of the problem and explained that this message is associated with the IC40 units based on the feedback/experience from pool companies and internet. They felt that this was not contributed to the IC40 unit, but instead associated with the board and possibly the sensor. These parts were sent to me and installed, which did not fix the problem. At this point, I was out of warrenty and they would not honor replacing the IC40 unit even though I contacted them before the warrenty had expired.

I spoke to several supervisors and escalated the matter to their superiors since they were not able to assist any further. Their superiors never returned my calls.

Over the cource of having these parts replaced and having to purchase/add chorline supplements to my pool to regulate proper water levels...additional costs and time, I feel that Pentair needs to step up and honor this warrently. In my opinion, they sent parts to me that far exceeds the cost of the IC40 and in the long run would have been less expensive for them to have simply replaced the IC40 unit which was damaged from the beginning.

All I ask is that they replace the Intellichlor IC40 cell. I am more than willing to send them back the original parts.
