ID application for permanent resident - ID document

This is a Complaint / Review about DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS.


My son applied for his first ID book over 5 months ago at Edenvale home affairs. We were told a 4-6 months wait was necessary because head office had to verify his permanent residence. Speaking to Edenvale they have received no response from the head office permanent residence verification team and have faxed them several times. They do not even respond to phone calls. The home affairs hotline refuse to chase up with head office and refer me to Edenvale. Edenvale say the situation is hopeless and can now take a year for each application to be resolved. Surely this is just checking on a computer system?
