Deposit Not Required

This is a Complaint / Review about OGE Energy Corp..

I am a first time OG&E customer. When I called to set up service at my new residence I was told that without a letter of credit I would owe a deposit. I produced 2 letters from my former utility providers. One stated no late pays and one stated 3 late pays but no cut off notices. Almost 2 weeks later I received 4 letters from OG&E, 2 stating the letters of credit were not accepted and 2 stating that they were accepted. I called to confirm and the rep told me to disregard the 2 letters stating the credit letters were not accepted and that I did not have to pay a deposit. A week later (today 12/30/13) I went home for lunch and had no power. I called to report an outage but was told that was not my problem. So I got to spend my entire lunch hour explaining to some idiot where they messed up and now have to wait for them to correct my account in their system and turn my power back on. Needless to say if I had any other choice for electric providers I would not be an OG&E customer. And from what I've read here and on other sites this seems to be business as usual for this company.
