Billing after Cancellation for poor service

This is a Complaint / Review about Shaw Direct.

Shaw Direct is charging me an extra month of service after I cancelled my account before end of billing cycle. The reason I cancelled, is due to the fact that the satellite service I was promised to have was never satisfactory. For over a year I listened to customer service and the technical department try to troubleshoot the problem of signal loss (interruption) on the HD Channels I was either trying to watch or record. I spent countless hours of following their directions and multiple complaints to them, with basically their response at first was yes we have a problem and are trying to fix it. They placed another satellite in the sky, (which they charged consumers for - even before it became active), to fix the problem - it did not. So more wasted time following troubleshoot procedures - never compensated for loss programs or time wasted. I told them on numerous occasions that I was getting tired of complaining and was thinking of going elsewhere for service. They responded well if that is how you feel then go ahead and do it.
So I did and even phoned and told them I was cancelling on a certain date, then stated then they wanted 30 days notice and I said back, NO!!! Why would I pay or keep a service whom couldn't even provide the service they were already accepting payment for.
I have since found out the have sent the extra month to a collections agency for the money - IS THIS NOT BLACKMAIL - how many other Canadians have been BLACKMAILED OR EXTORTED by Shaw Direct.
Why is the CRTC, Canadian Government, or the Better Business Bureau allowing this company to remain in business or use these type of tactics to steal or blackmail end users for more money.
I have voiced my complaint to Shaw Direct - Customer Service - Billing Department - even management to voice my complaints and again it is the same response, to bad so sad don't like then just complain to whoever you want because there is nothing you can do.
With all the complaints against Shaw Direct why is the CRTC doing nothing or even our own Governmental Watchdogs allowing a company to continue to be in business.
Who out there with the power is getting the payoff to allow this kind of Business Tactics to continue?
