USAgrants.com - Complaints / Reviews / Scam Reports
Charging for grant information on a government site

This is a Complaint / Review about USAgrants.com.

I kept getting e-mails from USAGRANTS by somebody named Haley. This person was very persistant. I kept deleting the e-mails and I was looking into obtaining information on grants and I kept avoiding these e-mails and asked for the e-mails to stop by e-mailing the individual and today which is June 7, 2010 and was trying to get my business off the ground and trying to see what was available to get me going with my business. Being frustrated with my current situation, I figure I needed to try something the change my fate and financial situation. By not doing anything and just by not trying I felt like I was not trying to do anything to improve my situation and life. I gave in and clicked into the website given www.usagrants.gov and was told it would be a $2.97 processing or shipping fee. I filled it out with my card information and had access the website provided and it seemed legit-.gov who would think it was a scam with the .gov behind it. While into the site and got to a part in filling out a question it blocked me from entering into the part I clicked in individuals grants. I even called the number they provided to call and I guess it was some type of call center for usagrants. I continue to try to get back into that same section and it still kept blocking me. Then within that web page at the bottom which the site was named grants.gov. I called the other number 1-800-518-4726 and it was a legit government site and I explained my problem and the lady on the other end asked me who did I talk to and I told her some person named Haley kept e-mailing me and I paid my $2.97 and was not familiar with the site and can she reconnect my access to the page. The lady at the real government grants said we have no one by the name of Haley and it is a scam and the site is free and I should have not been charge on a free government site and she asked me what state I lived and and gave me the number to report fraud and that this has happened alot and to call the my card company explain what happened and refuse that transaction and I called my card # and blocked that transaction. What was really weird and I do not know what happened and how it happened and when I went back to my e-mail all the e-mails that I had gotten from this individual was gone without me deleting them and there were several and they disappeared like they never existed. I did e-mail that e-mail back and stated that I just reported them and that is when the e-mails that was on my e-mail all disappeared. I am thinking that I am crazy as to how this happened the ones from my in and sent box and that is still puzzling me as I am typing this. I am going to cancel that card and thank god it was only a debit and not an actual credit card through a bank. This is all the information on this website I could give because I had written it down on the paper in the process when the problem occured.
