Trugreen - Complaints / Reviews / Scam Reports
Companies In Jax Fl poor professional employment practices

This is a Complaint / Review about Trugreen.

February, 9, 2009

Dear Chris Evans:

My name is Rachel Clausen. I was a CCSR at the Jacksonville, Florida branch. I was terminated two weeks ago Tuesday for accidently sending a Nanank's invoice to Landcare. I scanned the invoice and then proceeded to email it, when I accidently scrolled too quickly and hit enter for the wrong sender. I tried to retract the email but by the time I figured out how to, the Landcare Branch Manager, Rick Dernick, received the email on his blackberry. I am assuming from this termination, the company is saying no one has ever made that mistake. I apologized with all sincerity but there was nothing I could say to salvage my job.

I am writing you today hoping you will take this information and better the company, but most importantly the customers. I started with Trugreen back in October of 2006 as an AR clerk. My second day there I was thrown on the phones and told to learn. Alene Daniel, the Office Manager, never once took the time to train me. Mean while for the next four months at Trugreen in Jacksonville I found out I was pregnant. I was sick multiple mornings and there was one particular afternoon I got up very quickly set my headset down to run quickly to the restroom, Alene yelled at me from the hallway, If you throw anymore piece of equipment, I am going to throw you. Needless to say, I put up with a lot of attitude, rude remarks, and very unprofessional mannerisms.

I transferred in February 2007 to a branch in Ohio. There I was sexually harassed, people were accusing me of being racist, and finally after some work and personal reasons I asked Alene Daniel if she had a position back at Trugreen in Jacksonville. The reason why I chose to come back to the Jacksonville branch and work with Alene again, is due to our phone conversations. She was very nice to me over the phone and said that she would take care of me and get me a good increase for coming back. Although I was slightly nervous, I figured she had changed so I took the job. That is where I became the CCSR. I had never done anything more than AR at this point. Unfortunately, when I arrived for work, things were back to the same issues. I was thrown once again in this position. Alene did not have the time or patience to teach me what to do but she had the time to yell, scold, humiliate, and degrade me. Meanwhile, the two and a half years I was there, I spent doing and learning everything I could from others around me. I eventually felt confident in my work. Alene and the Branch Manager, Keith Rowley, would ask me to help with many different facets of Trugreen's office. I would audit sales, AR for residential, answer inbound calls for both residential and commercial especially when someone was out sick. I even volunteered to paint the branch one year for a visit from yours truly, Chris Evans. I took my job seriously and always made myself available for the company and the branch whenever I was requested to do so. There have been times when Alene asked someone to volunteer to switch shifts, rotate hours, work overtime, I would. I did anything for Trugreen over and beyond.

Here are some fine examples of how your Office Manager works. She hired her daughter-in-law to work in the office. Stacey Burns was not obligated to do what others were told to do. She played on the on the internet, made lots of personal calls, answered her cell phone, listened to her ipod, left early, looked for apartments to move to, came in late, called out a lot, and even brought her child to work because it was Alene's grandson. Then you have Darla Fedderly, the dispatcher, also a good friend of Alene's, she was not obligated to help with production entry, answer the phones, or to complete any other office tasks. She was allowed to leave early whenever, buy purses on Ebay, check the news, her bank accounts, read personal emails, surf the web, and take personal phone calls for the majority of her day as well as get paid to eat lunch on the clock. All these things can be verified by ANYONE in that branch. There has been numerous verbal complaints regarding these issues, but nothing was ever done about these situations. Dan Hosford, RHRM, was even called by the Branch Manager, Keith Rowley, to enlist some help and still nothing positive or even feedback was relayed to anyone of the people that made the complaints. I was even told by Dan Hosford that because Stacey Burns already put in her two weeks notice to leave the company at that time, there was no point in any disciplinary action against her. So they let her work the last two weeks of her notice. Darla Fedderly had many complaints against her for her bad attitude and she still has a job there. Strange that Trugreen likes to protect some people and let others loose their job over sending emails to the wrong person as an honest mistake.

I went to Keith Rowley many of times about the way Alene has treated me. I have brought to his attention in the minimum of 98% of the time when she has spoken to me in a rude manner, screamed at me across the office, told me I cannot read, yelled at me to enter production faster (she never offered help or tried to delegate to employees less busy), talking about my personal business openly to other managers and her friends, discussing my marriage to employees, telling people that I am always sick, or comparing me to others in the office. She would not only talk about my personal business to others, because if you called in to tell her you were sick or that you would be tardy because of a family emergency, she would tell everyone why someone called in. And then she would leave it for open discussion. She does not know personal or professional boundaries. She even once pulled me in her office after Darla called me a bitch aloud, and let Darla get in my face and yell at me, then told me we need to settle it. What kind of manager is that? I also have a witness to that. Never but once did anything positive come out of her mouth.

Right before I was terminated, I went to CSR training in Orlando, Florida. It was said everyone should answer the phones, no excuses. After we got back to the branch, Alene had a meeting to discuss what was learned in the training session. She reviewed the phone coverage and said that everyone has to answer the phones. Ironically, if she answers the phone, she would only do so to put them on hold and then she would continue to have a conversation with Darla Fedderly, or just walk away. If the phone rings more than three times, the managers do not even attempt to assist in answering the phones. If a customer wanted to speak with a manager, we would just take a message hoping they would return our customers' calls. To close her meeting, she mentioned that if anyone wants to know what happens to you if you do not answer the phone, call Sherry La Russa! She then glared at me and said, Isn't that right, Rachel? I noted that with Keith Rowley also.

I am disappointed how things were left. I would NEVER want my job back because being terminated was the best thing for me. I was never appreciated and I was singled out so many times, I feel discriminated against. This branch is a mess and from what I hear, many of the branches operate this way. I am disgusted I let this go on for as long as I did but I was extremely loyal to my job. I really hope you take action on all of this. I have journal entries of some of these dreadful events. Chris Evans, I liked my job, but I was treated so poorly that you need to know how things really are with your managers. I hope no future employees have to go through what I have. And to end this, it is coincidental that I got fired right after my good friend Sherry LaRussa did. I was told no more layoffs after the first week of January, so I do not get it. Oh, by the way, they coded me as a lay-off. In the future I will not think of Trugreen as a positive or honest business. You have no respect from me.

Unappreciated and Discriminated

By the way no one ever responded to me either..great company
