Jones Nissan - Complaints / Reviews / Scam Reports
Excessive credit inquiries

This is a Complaint / Review about Jones Nissan.

My wife and I recently went to a Nissan dealership to purchase an automobile. The name of this dealership is Jones Nissan their address is 1260 Wayne Rd Savannah, Tn. 38372. Our experience there was beyond reprehensible, between the over two hour wait, rude sales staff and lack of professionalism. We were lied to and deceived, I know that sounds funny because that is what happens whenever you go to one of these dealers, but this was beyond the usual lies. When we walked in and talked to the salesman, Lamont, we requested that he not send our application for the loan to more than one bank. He said that was no problem. Then they checked our credit and said that our credit was fine. He then called our bank and got the payoff amount, we already told him that we were a little upside down with our trade in. After getting the payoff amount he said that they would still be able to do the deal that we were only two thousand dollars upside down. Half way through the application process they said that they could get the payments down to approximately $520/month but we would have to wait until they negotiated with the bank. Little did we know that Ashley Williams the Sales Manager was in the process of sending our application to eight different banks (that we know of since we just got another set of letters today) for each of us myself and my wife, a total of 16 rejection letters. After two hours they came back and told us that they could not come down on their price (or profit however you want to look at it). Once they said no deal my wife and I left cause our kids were starving after waiting for over two hours. We thought that was the end of it until we started getting the letters. There were two inquiries from each of these banks, Huntington Bank, Fifth/ Third Bank, Capital One, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Independent Bank, Regions, and TD auto finance, one for me and one for my wife, for a total of 16 inquiries into our credit. This action by Nissan damaged our credit score dramatically. So nursing our credit through this recession and paying all of our bills all time only to be damaged by Nissans dishonest sales practices. After receiving inquiries from 7 of the banks, I called Nissans corporate office to complain about the dishonest sales practices. I spoke with Karen Durner at Nissan Customer Care and explained to her what happened during our visit to Jones Nissan. When she got back to me the next day she told me there was nothing Nissan would do about this. So in other words consumers beware. We have done research thru the internet on this subject and found this common practice among car dealerships. My wife and I feel that some action is needed to stop dealers from taking advantage of consumer credits to try to maximize on their profit. We hope that you will look into this and take appropriate action. I hope to hear back from you soon about what can be done to stop this from happening to more customers. This will not be the only letter that we are writing. Please tell me if we are truly at the mercy of these car dealerships to increase their bottom line. For an industry that was hit hard by this recession, practices like this are reprehensible for the consumer. After tax payers had to bail out this industry, dealerships are ruining a much needed relationships of the consumer.
