Walmart: Temple, Tx - Complaints / Reviews / Scam Reports
Banned from Wal-mart for falling.

This is a Complaint / Review about Walmart: Temple, Tx.

I want someone to know my story with Wal-Mart and realize that how their customers are treated has got to stop. Yesterday afternoon (9-21-13) at 2:37 p.m. I was walking into the Wal-Mart on 31st Street in Temple, Texas; I was on my way to purchase a cooling rack. As I was walking with my 6 year old daughter, we turned the corner between the girls department and baby’s department near the grocery side when everything hit the fan, so to speak. There was a greasy puddle right on the corner aisle that I happened to step in and I twisted my left ankle on this grease-like substance and fell. I called the store from my cell phone and requested that a manager bring a shopping basket so that I can walk myself and my daughter out of the store. Once they arrived, an African-American woman named Kimberly rolled her eyes, argued that it was “only water, that’s all” and I rebutted with the greasy texture. The manager that approached me, a white woman named Megan, was hostile from the start and laughed at me when I commented that someone needs to clean up the spill before an angry customer slips, falls and you have a liability case on your hand. After her giggle subsided, she requested I leave her store by stating “Get the *expletive* out of my store.” She then walked away as she radioed for another manager to take over the situation. Meanwhile I am still waiting for a shopping basket so I could walk myself to my car and leave. By the time the other Manager arrived, a Hispanic woman named Ann; I was getting angry for being treated with such disregard and blatant disrespect. The young man finally arrived with the basket and I attempted my exit, Ann proceeded to comment on my exiting the store. I turned around and said “If you give me a minute I will get the hell out of your store and never come back!” Well now that curse word I chose was a couple of volumes down from what Megan the manager told me minutes earlier; however, I was told I was being escorted out by Kimberly and Ann who proceeded to walk less than a step behind me the entire way from the Girl’s department to the front doors where they repeatedly called for someone to call police. Ann proceeded to agitate me by insulting me as a Mother; “This is how you act in front of your daughter? What kind of Mother are you?” That was my breaking point. I am trying to get out of this store all while being almost pushed out by Ann and Kimberly and I said some choice words to her after she began insulting my parenting. As I leave, I make my way to my car; I pull out to find a woman covered in tattoos who also serve as loss prevention, taking a picture on her phone of my license plates. I kindly waited for her to finish and then pulled up to the front doors and took a picture of Ann, who waved and laughed, Kimberly who looked away when she saw my camera, and the tattooed woman who took a picture of my license plates behind Ann who is waving. I was on the phone with my husband the entire time this event transpired and he had already called the police to meet me at our home to take a full report of this incident. The officer also was on his way to the Wal-Mart store to view the footage from the camera of my fall; as requested by my husband and I that an outside source see the incident on tape so a cover up is not possible. After all was said and done, he informed me that the manager Ann at Wal-Mart wants me banned, and he would need to see my license to get my information. I fully cooperated with the officer and mentioned that I live hours from Temple so I will have no problem complying with that, however, does this apply to every Wal-Mart and what about the Wal-Mart gift card that I purchased from there at a previous time? As angry as I was about this situation, I cannot understand how any Wal-Mart, under any circumstance or situation feels the need to demean and disrespect their customers without cause especially in the presence of children. Ultimately, my daughter and I were humiliated, treated like garbage, cursed at, (although eventually I did lash out to them in the same manner.) and banned from Wal-Mart in Temple because I slipped on a greasy puddle and needed a shopping basket so I could leave since I cannot walk on my ankle. I spent the rest of my day with my ankle elevated and iced while I researched which attorney I would contact about this to rectify the situation but then I thought that wasn’t the best way to go since I do not want money, not a dime of Wal-Mart’s dirty money; I want an apology; a sincere apology for being treated in such a manner, as well as my daughter who was upset and near tears the entire time. Also, I want the ban lifted. I slipped and fell due to a spill and Wal-Mart’s negligence to attend that spill; is it fair that my daughter, who loves to roam the toy aisles and find that perfect Monster High outfit, cannot return to Wal-Mart because of this accident? I didn’t threaten to sue, I didn’t threaten to call the cops, all I wanted was to simply leave and I needed help getting out of the store since my ankle was hurt when this ambush occurred. I know that I will likely not receive this apology or have the ban lifted since in Wal-Mart’s eyes, I did wrong by cursing but if their management team hadn’t cursed at me then this entire situation would not have come to the severity that it has.
